Refrasil UC100-96 is a Heavy Weight Silica Cloth

Note: This is a variation of Refrasil UC100-48 & UC100-96 (1800ºF Silica Cloth).

Refrasil is high strength acid-leached amorphous silica cloth that is specially made to maximize both temperature resistance and room temperature physical strength All Refrasil silica cloths are manufactured to contain silica contents of at least 96%. This silica level is necessary to obtain a temperature resistance of 1800ºF (982ºC). Traditionally high silica cloths possessed low tear strength low breaking strength and poor abrasion resistance which made them undesirable for demanding industrial applications and fabrication Low silica cloths, primarily imported cloths, are below 95% silica content While possessing higher strength at low temperatures becoming brittle and friable at temperatures as low as 1300ºF (704ºC) as causing total failure of the material Refrasil is a unique silica cloth that combines both high strength and 1800ºF(982ºC) temperature resistance along with high silica content (96% Minimum) All UC100 series arcell nameconomical alternatives to silica cloths that either do not perform at 1800ºF (982ºC) or have low physical strength and abrasion resistance.

Additional Information

Refrasil UC100-96 is a heavyweight high strength acid-leached amorphous silica cloth that is specially made to maximize both temperature resistance and room temperature physical strength. All Hitco silica cloths have are manufactured to contain silica contents of at least 96%. This silica level is necessary to obtain a temperature resistance of 1800ºF (982ºC). Traditionally high silica fabrics possessed low tear strength, low breaking strength and poor abrasion resistance which made them undesirable for demanding industrial applications and fabrication. Low silica fabrics, primarily imported cloths, are below 95% silica content. While possessing higher strength at low temperatures becoming brittle and friable at temperatures as low as 1300ºF(704ºC) as causing total failure of the material. Hitco has succeeded in developing a unique silica cloth that combines both high strength and 1800ºF(982ºC) temperature resistance along with high silica content (96% Minimum). All of the Hitco UC100 series arcell nameconomical alternatives to silica fabrics that either do not perform at 1800ºF(982ºC) or have low physical strength and abrasion resistance.
